The phrase “Christian hedonism” sounds like an oxymoron in the ears of most people. You might be one of them. Or you might resonate with the hedonist part, knowing your desire for happiness, but be confused or curious about how Jesus Christ and Christianity have anything to do with it.

Whatever brought you here, we invite you to ponder, weigh and wrestle with what you find. We don’t want to sweep any of the tough questions under the rug of piety. This isn’t about psychological crutches. This isn’t about spiritual placebo pills for the soul. It’s about asking questions and finding answers (and sometimes more questions) about who made us, why we're here and where we're going. We think those questions are important enough to spend the rest of your life on, let alone the next 5 or 10 minutes browsing this site. We hope we can help you in the quest for joy.
Are you a naked mole rat?

Okay, let’s ask the $64,000 question: Are you a naked mole rat? Have you spent all of your life tunneling underground, avoiding the truth and ignoring the difficult questions of life? Are you blinded to spiritual realities and deaf to spiritual truth? Are you afraid to come into the light of God’s truth because the evil in your own heart will be exposed? Are you suffocating in the stale air of self-centeredness? Have you become identical to so much of the rest of the world, buying its lies and eagerly clamoring after its goodies? Are you a slave to the tyrannical entertainment industry of this world? Are you rolling around in the “feces” of this world? …Then you are a naked mole rat.

Every single human being on the face of the earth is a worshipper.  You worship whatever or whomever you believe will make you happy.  If you believe that money and all that it can buy will make you happy, it is your god and you will worship it.

 Sex, Chocolates, and Heaven

“The letter and spirit of Scripture, and of all Christianity, forbid us to suppose that life in the New Creation will be a sexual life; [Matthew 22:29 Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.] and this reduces our imagination to the withering alternative either of bodies which are hardly recognizable as human bodies at all or else of a perpetual fast.

 Whom do you reflect?

Human beings tend to become like those they admire.  Just think of the way young baseball players mimic the swing of their favorite player.  Or think of the way that young singers imitate the voice of their favorite singer.

We resemble whom we respect.  We tend to become like whom we admire.

Why does God want me to be a hedonist?

God created human beings for His glory.  “…Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made” (Isaiah 43:6-7). God also created us with a passion for pleasure.  “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).  We naturally love ourselves by seeking whatever we believe will make us happiest.
